Campgrounds pennsylvania

Are you planning a camping trip for your family? These are incredibly popular trips for family vacations. More than 40 million Americans aged six and older went camping on 2013. That is about 14% of the population in the United States, this is according to the 2014 American Camper Report. You have a lot of options for your camping trip. Tent camping remains very popular but is not the only way you can go. Camp resorts have popped up all over the country. If you are more interested in a camp result with cabins, here are some tips to make your trip more rewarding.

  1. Ask about the rules for making (or breaking) your reservations. When you are calling the various camp resorts, ask about their reservations policies. How far ahead do you need to make your reservations? Do you have to put down a deposit? Is there a minimum number of nights that you have to book? What happens if your plans change or someone becomes ill before or during your trip? Often the camp resort will have all of this on their website but you can also always call with questions.
  2. Get the details about your cabin. Get as much specific information that you can about the cabin. Not all cabins are the same in the world of camp resorts. Some are very luxurious and some are very basic. Again there may be some information about this on the website for the campground but you may want to ask about it anyway. One thing you will absolutely want to find out about it how the cabin is heated and cooled. This may change what you plan to pack for your family vacation.
  3. Look into your kitchen options. Find out what your kitchen and cooking options will be. Some cabins will have a full kitchen, others will have some of the amenities you have at home and other cabins do not have any kitchen at all. You will need to know what your options are for your meals and what you will need to bring. Sometimes camp resorts only have spots for your to cook outside. You can still have a great experience but being prepared for what you will find at the cabin willreally help a lot.
  4. Plan your meals before you go. There are a number of things you can do before you all leave for your trip. Partially cook baked potatoes, chop your vegetables and write up a meal plan. You need the three basic meals and then add in some healthy snacks. If you have children, involve them in the preparation and planning process for what the family will eat on your vacation.
  5. Plan for rain. No matter how much you check the weather or now much you pack, you may have to deal with rain. This has ruined many family camping trips. Proper planning can make sure none of your family camping vacation trips are ruined by some rain. Plan activities to do inside when the weather is bad. Ask people at the camp resort about local things that you can do inside. There may be a fun museum or other sites you can check out. Bring some games to play. Make up a family trivia game. These also may be fun things to occupy everyone at night when you are sitting around the campfire.
  6. Make your vacation a device free time. Your kids may not like it (at first) but make everyone leave the devices off during your time at the camp resort. This will force everyone to be fully present on your vacation. You can use this time to spend quality time with the important people in your life. Many adults say they like this time and consider camping to be a great way to spend time with their family. Unplugging from social media can help with that.

Camping is a super popular thing to do for vacations with family and friends. When asked, nearly 99% of all people said that they were either “very likely” or “likely” to take another camping trip. Your family camping trip will be a fun experience for everyone if you do some advance planning and research.
